From the Urban Heart of Catania, a New Voice for Catarratto

On June 11, 2025, the ARCA project arrived in Catania, taking center stage in the lively Piazza Scammacca Market: a dynamic, well-attended event that engaged a specialized audience and a new generation of wine communicators. The talk, led by Sebastiano Di Bella and joined by Tonino Guzzo, Veronika Crecelius, Nando Calaciura, and Gabriele Vitale, shone a light on a new way of presenting Catarratto: rooted in identity, modern in style, and aligned with global wine markets. The strong presence of journalists, wine educators, wine shop owners, students, and supply chain professionals confirmed the growing interest in a viticulture that fuses craftsmanship with vision. At the center of the gathering was a masterclass described as an “educational aperitivo”: six wines, six territories, six voices of authentic Catarratto. The storytelling was vibrant and well-received, culminating in a convivial open lunch with tastings and pairings. For the press and wine professionals present, ARCA emerged as an innovative and agile organization, capable of building networks, generating value, and crafting a credible wine language. Catania confirmed that Catarratto has found a new home even in the urban centers of contemporary Sicily.
